Comedy Planning App for The Elms Hides a Dark Strategy

blockofflatsIn keeping with a recent Shakespearean comedy performed at The Elms, Rectory Homes' recent planning application for 45 houses to be built on The Elms seems to be some sort of follow up joke.

In a design consisting purely of dense overcrowding of areas, flat roofs and back gardens that open immediately onto Elms Park we see an incredibly ruthless background strategy which we warn the people of Thame not to fall for.

For those of you who haven't already worked it out, here's what Rectory Homes are up to.  It is our opinion that they've submitted a planning application that would have even the most forward thinking, liberal minded modernist thinking that they've gone a bit bonkers.  This planning application does not stand a chance at being approved by Thame Town Council or even South Oxfordshire District Council.  But what it has suddenly done is taken your mind off the fact that we don't want any houses on The Elms to now thinking we don't want these houses on The Elms.  In time, we think Rectory will return with a new application consisting of sensible houses, in keeping with the local area. Expecting the town to breathe a collective sigh of relief and thanking Simon Vickers et al for not building a university hall of residence.

We collectively say "No".  Enough is enough, we will not be taken for the fools you think we are. You think you can push this town and its residents around for your own personal financial gain but we will not let you do that.

And we collectively ask, once again, that Thame Town Council stand up for the views and rights of the people that democratically elected them and remove The Elms from Thame Neighbourhood Plan.

In the meantime, forget about the current design - it will never get past the planning stage.
